Protecting Health: Nursing and Midwifery Successes and Challenges - Day Three - 26th Feb 2014

Day Three of our Week of Action – 26th February, Wednesday

This short ‘blog’ is just to provide a pointer for what we have coming up today and some things you may want to book for later in the week and to reflect on some of the things that have already happened.

Thank you to everyone who participated in an excellent twitterchat on @WeNurses  [link to WeNurses website] last night. We had 109 people take part with over 730 tweets. If all of their followers had seen every tweet made that would have been a reach of over 2.5 million. While I make no claim that we did reach that number or that the majority will be nurses or midwives, it does demonstate the potential reach of social media and its value as a networking medium for the profession.

Today our main theme is immunisation. Things to look out for:

·         Blogs:

- Dr Helen Bedford, Senior Lecturer of Child Health at University College London gives her perspective on the importance of immunisation - appearing at http://vivbennett.dh.gov.uk/

- Pauline Watts, DH Professional Officer for Health Visiting, and Alison Burton, PHE lead for Maternity and Early Years will appear on the Institute of Health Visiting's website http://www.ihv.org.uk/

 ·         Join our campaign pledge for NHS Change Day - http://bit.ly/1bsvckc or  Protecting Health Campaign Pledge

Out on the road, Pauline Watts, our Professional Officer for Health Visiting, is at Arden Community TB service in the morning before attending a student QT event at Oxford Brookes University.
